The Competition Policy Advisory Group (COMPAG) publishes its 2005-2006 Annual Report today (December 11). In line with the Government's "e-Government" initiative, the report is published electronically and is available online at the COMPAG website, www.compag.gov.hk.
"During the period covered by the report, COMPAG examined 16 cases of possible anti-competitive conduct," a Government spokesman said.
"The report also highlights the recommendations of the Competition Policy Review Committee, that a new, cross-sector law be introduced, and that a Competition Commission be set up to enforce the new law," the spokesman said.
COMPAG was established in December, 1997, under the chairmanship of the Financial Secretary to co-ordinate the Government's efforts to promote competition. The group reviews competition issues that have policy or systemic implications and directs bureaux and departments on such matters.
