Woman arrested over ketamine seizure (with photo)
*************************************************

Customs officers at Man Kam To Control Point yesterday (December 4) seized from an arriving 27-year-old woman one kilogram of ketamine, worth about $173,000 in the market.

About 9pm yesterday, Customs officers at the control point intercepted a woman, who was about to enter into Hong Kong through "Green Channel". She was acting suspiciously, when officers were conducting normal passenger clearance.

A subsequent search of the woman's leather bag revealed one kilogram of ketamine.

Customs officers arrested the woman's boyfriend on board an incoming coach.

The woman, 27, will be charged with one count of "trafficking in a dangerous drug" and will appear in Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 6).

The 33-year-old man is now on bail pending further investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
