Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (December 1) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $1,800 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.

     The defendant, Wealth Star Construction Engineering Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $1,819.98, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payment of $180 as cost in respect of the claim.
