Regarding the earlier announcement about the six patients and five staff members in a male ward for the severely handicapped presenting with fever and respiratory symptoms, Siu Lam Hospital (SLH) announced the following updates today (November 30):
No new case has been reported by the concerned ward today. The test result of one of the six patients was positive to Parainfluenza, while the results for other patients are pending.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have been stepped up. All other patients and staff in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
