CE officiates at symposiums on trade and tourism in Guizhou (with photos)
************************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, and his delegation attended the Hong Kong-Guizhou Business Co-operation Symposium on the second day of their visit to Guizhou today (November 22).

Organised by the Trade Development Council, the symposium provided a platform for Hong Kong and Guizhou business people to exchange information and ideas, deepen understanding, share experiences and in turn promote closer economic and trade ties.

Mr Tsang said Guizhou's advantages were in its abundant natural resources and the support they gave its industries. Hong Kong, with its strengths in professional services, was a perfect match for Guizhou, which could serve as a springboard for Guizhou enterprises to enter overseas markets. Mr Tsang said he hoped business leaders would grasp this golden opportunity to seek further co-operation with potential counterparts.

The Chief Executive later took time out to visit the Guizhou University, one of the Mainland's key universities. He was briefed about tourism-related courses and training provided by the university and then talked to students about their aspirations and future.

At noon, the delegation attended a luncheon hosted by the Hong Kong Government before travelling to Anshun, a city famous for its numerous tourist attractions, including the Huangguoshu Waterfalls.

The delegation took a first-hand look at the operation and management of tourist facilities and ancillary services provided in the waterfall area. After the visit, the Chief Executive and members from the tourism-related sectors participated in the Hong Kong-Guizhou Tourism Seminar.

Mr Tsang said he was confident that focused and valuable discussions and exchanges among representatives of the industry from both places would give insights into the direction and potential for future co-operation and development.

Other delegation members visited Guizhou Hua Tai Green Food Ltd and learnt about the production and marketing of environmentally friendly food products in the province.

The delegation will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning.
