Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital cases of influenza-like illness

    A Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital spokesperson today (November 21) announced that since November 18, three patients (aged from 38 to 73) of a female psychiatric ward had presented with symptoms of influenza-like illness. The patients are being treated under isolation and their condition is stable. Viral test results of them are positive to Influenza A.

     All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance. Admission and visiting to the ward have been suspended. Infection control measures have already been reinforced. Thorough cleansing and disinfection have been carried out in the ward.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
