Secretary for Security meets young students
*******************************************

The Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee, today (November 21) met students at a juvenile care centre in Wong Chuk Hang and saw the services and facilities provided to them.

During his visit to the Hong Kong Juvenile Care Centre, Mr Lee listened to the students' concerns and heard about their lives at the centre. He also exchanged views with the centre's teachers and social workers to understand their work and challenges.

The Hong Kong Juvenile Care Centre, comprising a dormitory and a school for social development, provides secondary education and boarding facilities for boys aged 12 to 17 with behavioural and emotional problems with the objectives of enhancing their social and communication skills and helping them reintegrate into mainstream education.

Accompanied by the District Officer (Southern), Ms Eva Yam, Mr Lee earlier took a sampan ride in the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter and saw the Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau promenades on both sides of the typhoon shelter, a popular scenic spot for tourists and a recreational area for local people.

He chatted with residents and fishing folk to learn about their livelihood and their views on local issues.

Mr Lee was particularly pleased to learn that the Southern District's crime rate was low and residents were generally satisfied with the law and order situation in the district.
