Wetland Park group tickets for the next two days sold out
*********************************************************

    The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department today (November 17) urged people not to visit the Hong Kong Wetland Park tomorrow (November 18) and Sunday (November 19) because group tickets for the two days had already sold out.

     "As the 2,500 daily group tickets for the next two days have been sold out, we expect there will be more visitors to the park than usual. To avoid overcrowding, which will lessen the enjoyment, people are advised to visit the park another day," a department spokesman said.

     The spokesman also reminded people that Wetland Park Road and the nearby Tin Ying Road and Hong Tin Road would be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic on November 19 morning for a long distance race.

     During the closure, all vehicles including coaches and private cars heading to Hong Kong Wetland Park should use Exit 14 on Yuen Long Highway to go onto Long Tin Road, Tin Tsz Road, Tin Wah Road to Tin Shui Road where private car drivers can find public parking. Coaches should go further to the temporary coach unloading point on Tin Sau Road.

     Visitors may then walk for five minutes to the entrance of Hong Kong Wetland Park through the subway. Vehicles will only be allowed to stop briefly at the above location for passengers to alight. No waiting or parking is allowed.

     Carpark at the Wetland Park will be closed on that morning. Drivers may use public car parks in the nearby housing estates along Tin Shui Road such as Tin Heng Estate and Grandeur Terrace. It will take 15 minutes to walk from there to the Wetland Park.

     It is the objective of the Wetland Park to strike a balance between conservation, tourism and education. Visitors should observe the following rules to conserve the environment in the park:

* To avoid stressing birds and other wildlife, don't dress in bright colours;

* Keep quiet, don't shout or run in the park;

* Keep the air clean and don't smoke;

* No littering. Put litter into litter bins or take it with you;

* Don't picnic in the Park or leave any food in outdoor areas;

* Don't pick or damage plants;

* Don't disturb or catch animals;

* Don't climb over fences. Please take care of children;

* Help to protect the exhibits and don't damage them; and

* Don't touch wild birds, their feathers or droppings. Wash hands after the visit.
