Appointments to Estate Agents Authority

    The Government announced today (3 November 2006) that the Chief Executive had re-appointed 11 serving members and appointed nine new members to the Estate Agents Authority (EAA) for a two-year term with effect from November 1, 2006.  The appointments are made on a personal basis.

     Mr Steven Poon Kwok-lim has been re-appointed as chairman.  Mrs Amy Liu Tam Yuen-king has been appointed as vice-chairman.

     The following persons have been appointed as Ordinary Members -

Category A (individuals who do estate agency work)

Mr Eric Lee Chun-ming
Mr Lun Chi-yim
Mr Shih Wing-ching
Mr Joseph Tsang Hon-ping
Mr Wong Kin-yip

Category B (individuals who have knowledge of estate agency work through their own profession)

Mr Katherine Hung Siu-lin
Miss Connie Lau Yin-hing
Mr Ma Ho-fai
Mr Wilson Wong

Category C (individuals who do not fall within Category A or B)

Dr Bob Chan Yau-ching
The Hon Audrey Eu Yuet-mee

Mr William Leung Wing-cheung

     䩕Since its establishment in November 1997, the Estate Agents Authority has been functioning effectively as a regulatory body for the estate agency sector.  The Government appreciates the contributions made by members of the authority in the last nine years in achieving this formidable task.  We are grateful to the retiring members, especially the Vice-Chairman Mr Anthony Chow Wing-kin and the other founding member Mrs Pamela Chan Wong Shui, for their unrelenting support and valuable contributions to the authority in helping it to effectively perform its statutory functions,蒅 the Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands Mr Michael Suen Ming-yeung said.  

     䩕We are confident that with the new membership, the authority will continue to work strenuously with the estate agency trade to further enhance their integrity and competence,蒅 he said.

     The EAA was established on November 1, 1997, under the Estate Agents Ordinance with the aims of improving the standards of service provided by estate agents and protecting consumers involved in property transactions.
