Tuen Mun Hospital fever cases update
************************************

Regarding an earlier announcement on four patients of a female ward for the mentally handicapped in Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) presented with fever and upper respiratory infection, three of them were subsequently found to be positive to parainfluenza, TMH announced the following updates today (November 1):

There is one more patient (aged 42) in the ward presenting with fever and upper respiratory infection.  She is now in stable condition and is being treated under isolation.  Appropriate tests are being carried out.

Admission to the ward has been suspended while discharge from the ward remains normal.  Restricted visiting policy is imposed. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation.  Infection control measures of the ward concerned have been stepped up.  All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.

The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
