15 Building plans approved in September

    The Buildings Department approved 15 building plans in September - three on Hong Kong Island, seven in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, five were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, four was for factory and industrial development, and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 16 building projects that, when completed, will provide 231,973 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,741 units, and 130,181 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 16 occupation permits - six on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 199,355 square metres, involving 2,498 units, and 198,218 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in September totalled about $3.9 billion.

     In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,501 complaints against unauthorised building works in September, and issued 4,164 removal orders on unauthorised works.
