The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (July 6) obtained two orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of about $260,000 against two employers. MPFA today also pursued seven claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $220,000 on behalf of 18 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by the employer.
The District Court today issued judgments against the employers, Mok Leung trading as Tung Man Trading Transportation Company and Graphimorph Company Limited. They were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $197,829.25 and $67,164.44 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 11 and two employees of the defendants respectively.
At the tribunal's hearing today, the seven defendants, Chan Wing Kin trading as Sun Wing Lee Transportation Company, Tsoi Mau Hung and Fong Chun Hing trading as Wing Lun Construction Co., Fung Chung Lok trading as Studio Paragon International, Max Creator Limited trading as Hang Hing Seafood Hot Pot Restaurant, Bonne Bonne Limited trading as C C Boy Contemporary Chiuchow Bistro, Fore Leader Limited trading as Luxuriant Seafood Restaurant and Agel Hong Kong Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $48,695.35, $47,494.28, $45,612, $42,368.87, $15,927.73, $10,469.68 and $9,416.13, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the Tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the tribunal respectively further awarded payments of $930 for the District Court cases and $170, $190, $170, $160, $200, $80 and $310 for tribunal cases as costs in respect of the claims.
