Tai Po Hospital Norovirus cases
*******************************

Regarding earlier announcement of some patients and staff members in a Medical ward and two Orthopeadic wards of the hospital presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the spokesperson of the Tai Po Hospital (TPH) gave the following update today (1 July 2006).

There is one more case reported from the Medical ward today. The test result of a 56-year-old male patient was positive to the Norovirus, but he does not have any further presentation of vomiting and diarrhea symptoms.

Admission and visiting to the ward concerned have been suspended and measures to restrict discharge activities implemented. Infection control measures have also been stepped up and all patients are under close surveillance.

The TPH Infection Control Team has reported the case to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
