Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) diarrhoea and vomiting cases

    The spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) made the following announcement today:

     Since 29 June 2006, four patients (aged 8-month to 14) in a paediatrics and adolescent medicine ward were found to have symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting. Appropriate tests are being carried out and results are pending. All four patients are being treated in isolation and in stable condition.

     PYNEH has stepped up infection control measures in the ward and admission to the ward is suspended. Restricted visiting policy has been implemented.

     PYNEH will continue to monitor the situation.  The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and Centre for Health Protection.
