Regarding an intellectual disability ward in Castle Peak Hospital in which there were five patients and a staff presented with vomiting and diarrhea symptoms yesterday, the hospital announced the following update today (23 June 2006):
There is no new case reported today. Test results of two patients were positive for Norovirus and results for other patients are pending. One of the patients with chronic illness passed away today and the cause of death will be pended for coroner﷿s inquest.
Admission to the ward has been suspended. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close medical surveillance. Infection control measures have been enhanced.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
