Princess Margaret Hospital Norovirus cases

    The spokesperson of Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) made the following announcement today (June 21):

     Since June 6, five patients (one male and four female, aged 4 months to 14 years ) of a Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine Ward in PMH had presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms.  Four of them are in stable and fair condition and their test results to Norovirus were positive.  Laboratory result was pending for the 14-year-old female patient, whose condition has been serious since admission.
 
     Infection control measures have already been enhanced.  There will be no new admissions to the ward for the time being.  Restricted visiting policy has been implemented and visitors are required to put on appropriate personal protective equipment.  All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
