Among the eight awards, four are for practising designers and the rest are for design students. Two awards are funded by the Government under the DesignSmart Initiative while the others are offered by industrial and education sponsors including The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; the VTC Design Education Fund; Gold Peak Industries [Holdings] Limited; the Bright Future Foundation; and the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council. The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph WP Wong, today received, on behalf of the Government, donations from the sponsors at the launch ceremony held at the Hong Kong Design Centre.
