The Government today (May 30) announced the re-appointment of Mr Ronny Wong Fook-hum as Chairman of the Independent Police Complaints Council (IPCC) for a further two-year term from June 1, 2006 to May 31, 2008.
Mr Wong's current term of office will expire tomorrow (May 31).
Mr Wong is a Senior Counsel. He has had rich experience in public service since 1987 and was Chairman of Hong Kong Bar Association in 1994-1995. At present, Mr Wong is also the Chairman of Air Transport Licensing Authority and Town Planning Appeal Board.
The IPCC is an independent body responsible for monitoring and reviewing the investigation of complaints against the Police. It comprises a chairman, three vice-chairmen, 14 non-official members and an ex-officio member, who is the Ombudsman or her representative.
