Tseung Kwan O Hospital GI cases updates

    Regarding the ten patients (7 male, 3 female; aged from 51 to 89) in a convalescent ward in Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) presented with symptoms of diarrhea, TKOH announced the following updates today (May 20):

     From the laboratory tests of stool samples for these patients, the Clostridium difficile cytotoxin were found to be positive in two patients; one patient was positive for Campylobacter. Clostridium difficile cytotoxin and Campylobacter will lead to diarrhea.

     At present, only two patients still have mild diarrhea in the ward. All patients' condition are stable.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended. All patients are under close medical surveillance. Infection control measures have been enforced in the ward.
