MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for an employee

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 18) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $20,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.

     At today's hearing, the defendant, Century Nice Printing Company Limited, did not dispute the amount claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered the defendant to pay the MPFA the sum of $28,896.70, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payment of $210 as the cost in respect of the claim.
