Award-winning cellist Trey Lee to give recital tomorrow (with photo)

    Trey Lee, who in 2004 became the first Chinese champion of the prestigious International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in Croatia, will give a recital in Hong Kong tomorrow (May 4).

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the performance will be held at 8pm at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall.

     The rising star will play Tartini's "Variations on a Theme by Corelli"; Brahms' "Sonata in E Minor for Cello & Piano, Op. 38"; Popper's "Hungarian Rhapsody, Op. 68"; Schumann's "Five Stucke im Volkston, Op. 102" and Chopin's "Introduction & Polonaise Brillante, Op. 3" with piano accompaniment by Noreen Polera.

     Born into a musical family, Lee started learning piano at four and cello at nine. He then entered the Juilliard School in the US at age 12 and became the youngest winner of the New York Olga Koussevitsky Piano Competition.
