Charitable organisations wishing to hold flag days between April, 2007, and March, 2008, are invited to apply to the Social Welfare Department between May 3 and June 2 this year.
In order to allow more organisations to conduct flag sales, 31 flag days will be assigned as regional flag days in 2007-08. There will also be 32 territory-wide flag days in the same year.
A department spokesman said today (May 2) that applicant organisations must be bona-fide non-profit-making organisations exempt from tax under Section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (Cap.112).
䩕Each application will be considered by the Lotteries Fund Advisory Committee according to the organisation﷿s integrity and management capability, the nature, value and standard of its existing services, its financial need and ability to organise a flag day,蒅 the spokesman said.
Application forms can be downloaded from the department website at http://www.swd.gov.hk and obtainable from the department Headquarters, General Registry at Room 920, 9/F, Wu Chung House, 213 Queen﷿s Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The completed application form together with the required documents should reach the department at the above address on or before June 2, 2006. Late applications will not be considered.
