Theatre du Pif to re-run "Dance Me to the End of Love"

    Hong Kong-based theatre company Theatre du Pif, will rerun "Dance Me to the End of Love" in June.

     The production, which premiered in Hong Kong in 2003 and has been performed in Berlin, Germany with critical acclaim, will be staged at 8pm on Thursday and Friday, June 8 and 9 at the Theatre of Sheung Wan Civic Centre.

     Inspired by the music of the celebrated Canadian singer, songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen, "Dance Me to the End of Love" is an interpretation of Nobel laureate Hermann Hesse's famous novel "Siddhartha", which chronicles the quest of Siddhartha for the conquest of suffering and fear through the temptations of luxury and wealth, the delights of sensual love and the sinister threat of deadly snakes towards the fulfilment of his destiny.

     Performed in English with Chinese subtitles, "Dance Me to the End of Love" is directed by Bonni Chan who also performs along with Sean Curran and Aman Yap.

     Established by Bonni Chan and Sean Curran in 1992, Theatre du Pif is known for dynamic and innovative stage works that incorporate text, movement, visual elements and the physicality of the actors. The cross-cultural bilingual theatre also organises workshops for professional and community groups to promote theatre participation and creation.

     "Dance Me to the End of Love" is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

     Tickets priced at $100 and $160 are now available at URBTIX outlets, while senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients can have 50% off (limited quotas for students and CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis). A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues. There will also be group booking concessions: 10% discount for a single purchase of four to nine tickets, 15% for 10 to 19 tickets and 20% for 20 tickets or more.
