The staging of the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre's (HKRep) "Love in a Fallen City" at the Ryerson Theatre in Toronto tonight (April 28, Toronto time) begins its North America tour with a full-house premiere.

Organised jointly by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (Canada) and the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation, the  performance by the 42-member group is part of a series of cultural events to recognise the  Hong Kong arts and culture in the Greater Toronto Area.

Based on American-Chinese author Eileen Chang's novel, the stage production of the "Love in the Fallen City" proved to be a great success when it was staged in Hong Kong and Shanghai. After its North America tour in Toronto and New York, the HKRep will immediately head to Beijing to present the same production at the "Meet in Beijing Arts Festival".

Four performances of "Love in a Fallen City" are shown in Toronto from tonight until April 30. All tickets have been sold out.
