Parents to receive Secondary School List
****************************************

Parents of Primary six students participating in the current (2006) cycle of the Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) System will soon receive documents on the choice of secondary schools from their children's primary schools, a spokesman for the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) said today (April 25).

"Primary schools participating in the SSPA System have been asked to collect the documents today for distribution to parents of their Primary six students as soon as possible," the spokesman said. The documents include Secondary One Choice of Schools Forms and Secondary School Lists.

He reminded parents that prior to making school choices for their children, they should read carefully the information on the secondary schools and the "Brief Description of the SSPA System (Central Allocation)" contained in the Secondary School Lists. Parents are also encouraged to watch the VCD issued to them in November last year to understand the system in detail.

When making school choices for their children, parents may also refer to the Secondary School Profiles 2005/2006 published in December 2005 by the Committee on Home-School Cooperation for information supplied by the secondary schools. In addition, the relevant information and some frequently asked questions have been uploaded onto the EMB's Homepage (http://www.emb.gov.hk).

"Parents must complete and return as soon as possible the Secondary One Choice of Schools Forms to their children's primary schools for submission to EMB on or before May 8, 2006 (Monday)," the spokesman said.

About 78,800 Primary six students participate in the SSPA System this year. Parents who have questions in completing the Choice of Schools Forms are advised to consult their children's primary schools.

Parents may also call the EMB's automatic telephone enquiry service on 2891 0088. Further enquiries may also be directed to the School Places Allocation Section (SSPA) on 2832 7740 and 2832 7700.
