LegCo Information Technology and Broadcasting Panel arrives London to continue study tour (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The delegation of the Legislative Council Panel on Information Technology and Broadcasting completed its visit to USA and departed Washington DC for London today (April 18) to continue its overseas study tour on public service broadcasting.

     On its visit to Washington DC, the delegation visited two radio and television membership organisations in the production and distribution of public broadcasting programmes in USA. At the National Public Radio (NPR), the delegation met with Mr Jeffrey Dvorkin, Ombudsman of NPR, and Mr DanielC DeVany, Vice President and General Manager (Radio) of Washington Educational Television Association (WETA). At the Public Broadcasting Service which deals with public television programmes, the delegation met with Mr Thomas Crockett, Senior Director; Ms Jan McNamara, Director; and Mr Jim Corbley, Vice President of WETA.

     The delegation will continue its visit in London to exchange views with the public service broadcasters from 18 to 21 April 2006.
 
     The delegation comprises Panel Chairman Hon Sin Chung-kai, Deputy Chairman Hon Albert Jinghan Cheng and Hon Emily Lau.
