Applications open for grants from Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation

    The Sir David Trench Fund Committee is inviting applications for grants from the Sir David Trench Fund for Recreation in 2006-07.

     The fund provides facilities for recreational, sporting, cultural and social activities to promote personal development, particularly among young people.

     Three categories of grants are available under the fund. They are capital works projects, the main target of which is the construction of new recreational facilities; non-capital works projects that cover the purchase of sports and recreational equipment; and a special project with the theme "Improvement Works for Sports and Recreational Facilities" for this year, which allows the carrying out of improvement or upgrading works to existing sports and recreational facilities.

     The guidelines for funding applications and application forms are available on the Home Affairs Bureau's homepage at http://www.hab.gov.hk They are also obtainable from the Secretariat of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee upon request by fax: 2519 7404.

     Completed application forms should be sent to the Secretariat of the Sir David Trench Fund Committee at 41/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

     The deadline for applications for the capital works projects is May 31, 2006. Applications for non-capital works projects will be processed in two batches, with closing dates set on May 31, 2006 and November 30, 2006 respectively. For the special project, applications should be submitted to the Secretariat before August 31, 2006. Each applicant can submit one application under each of the three projects within the same year.
