The Lai Brothers Buk-hoi and Man-wai were pioneers contributing immensely to the establishment of the early Hong Kong and Chinese film industries. They had invested generously in building the first Chinese-owned cinema and training specialists, and were by profession, film directors, cinematographers and actors in the early Hong Kong film industry.
To commemorate the Lai Brothers﷿achievements, an exhibition 䩕Lai Buk-hoi & Lai Man-wai: Trailblazers of Hong Kong Cinema蒅 is held at the lobby of the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) from now until May 28.
In celebration of the 100 years of Chinese cinema, and the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Lai Buk-hoi﷿s death, the Archive has initiated new research on historical facts related to the early period of Hong Kong cinema.
The exhibition, an attempt to stimulate thoughts on cinematic heritage and to encourage more people to take up in-depth historical research, includes Lai Brothers and other pioneers﷿ contribution to early Hong Kong Cinema and some images of archival documents.

Two other exhibitions including the 䩕@location蒅 at the Exhibition Hall of HKFA and 䩕The Glorious Modernity of Kong Ngee蒅 at the first floor are on display from now until June. Admission is free.
