Round-up of food poisoning cases in Kwai Fong

    The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (April 12) revealed that nine more people in two groups have reported to have felt unwell after having meals in a restaurant in Kwai Fong, bringing the total number of people affected in the incident to 52.

     They are six males and three females, aged seven to 53. They developed abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever after having meals in the restaurant on April 8 and 9.

     Eight of them sought treatment from private doctors but none required hospitalisation.

     Earlier, 43 people in nine groups were affected in the food poisoning outbreaks. Two of them were admitted to Union Hospital in a stable condition.

     Six of the stool samples collected from the affected people tested positive for salmonella.

     Further investigations are in progress.
