An investigation is being jointly conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) and the Police into the cause of explosion in Ngau Tau Kok this (April 11) afternoon.
About 12.30pm, FSD received a report of gas leakage opposite the building at 1-9, Jordan Valley North Road, Ngau Tau Kok.
During the course of searching the source of gas leakage in the area by the personnel of the Towngas, an explosion suddenly occurred inside the building.
Nine people were injured in the incident and sent to hospital. Of the injured persons, an 89-year-old woman was later certified dead in hospital.
A total of 14 fire appliances and 10 ambulances were mobilised.
