More people affected in suspected food poisoning cases
******************************************************

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health revealed that 26 more people in six groups felt unwell after having meals in the restaurant in Kwai Fong, bringing the total number of people affected in the incident to 43.

The affected people in the latest cases comprised 11 males and 15 females, aged between 18 months and 58 years. They developed abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea and fever about two to 39 hours after having meals in the restaurant between April 5 and 9.

Nineteen of the 26 affected sought treatment either from the Accident and Emergency Departments of public hospitals or from private doctors. None of them required hospitalisation.
Earlier, 17 people in three groups were affected in the food poisoning outbreaks.  Two of them were admitted in Union Hospital in stable condition.

CHP's initial investigations showed that bacterial contamination could be the likely cause for the outbreak. Further investigation is in progress.
