Organised by the Efficiency Unit of the Chief Secretary for Administration's Office, the two-day conference is designed to maintain the momentum of the Government's public sector reform programme. It focuses on how the civil service can improve its performance. The conference is also examining how to make the public's experiences when dealing with government as simple and convenient as possible. The keynote speakers at the Public Sector Reform Conference 2006 which started today (April 3) are from left, Mr Philip Chen, Chief Executive, Cathay Pacific Airways; Ms Chen Xiaozhu, Director General, State Council Informatization Office; Acting Head of Efficiency Unit Mr David Pao; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Rafael Hui and Ms Patricia Faulkner, Secretary, Department of Human Services, Victoria, Australia. About 400 top-level civil servants, academics, and business and community leaders attended the plenary session. Over the two days of the conference, about 650 are expected to attend.
