Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital gastroenteritis cases update

    Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital spokesman today (April 2) said that following the earlier announcement on the diarrhoea symptoms of 14 patients and two staff members of a medical ward, there is one new case (male staff) reported today, he is now on sick leave.  Four patients and two staff have recovered.  The remaining 10 patients are being treated and in stable condition.  Appropriate test is being carried out.  The test results of three patients are positive to Norovirus.
 
     There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being.  All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.  In addition, infection control measures have already been enhanced and visiting to the ward remains normal.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
