Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital gastroenteritis cases update
********************************************************

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital said today (March 31) that following earlier announcements about the diarrhoea symptoms of 13 patients and two staff members of a medical ward, one new case (male aged 74) had been reported today.

All patients are being treated and are in a stable condition. The two staff members are now on sick leave. Tests are being carried out and three patients have already tested positive to Norovirus.

There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance. In addition, infection control measures have already been enhanced and visiting to the ward remains normal.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up action.
