Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital gastroenteritis cases update
********************************************************

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital today (March 30) said that following the announcement yesterday on the diarrhoea symptoms of 11 patients and one staff member of a medical ward, there are three new cases reported today, including two patients (one female aged 78 and one male aged 94) and one female staff member. All patients are being treated and are in a stable condition. The two staff members are now on sick leave. Appropriate tests are being carried out.

There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance. In addition, infection control measures have already been enhanced and visiting to the ward remains normal.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
