Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital Press Release on gastroenteritis cases

    Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital announced today (29 March 2006) that since 28 March 2006, a total of 11 patients (10 female and 1 male, aged 72 to 98) and one female staff of a medical ward had presented with diarrhoea symptoms. All the patients are in stable condition.  The staff is now on sick leave.  Appropriate test is being carried out.

     There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being.  All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance.  In addition, infection control measures have already been enhanced and visiting to the ward remains normal.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
