Updated service handbooks for new arrivals (with photo)

    A total of 150,000 copies of an updated service handbook for new arrivals will be distributed free-of-charge from tomorrow (March 29).

     The 192-page service handbook, now in its 10th edition, is published in both traditional and simplified Chinese characters.

     The handbook, which contains details of the wide range of services provided by the government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), provides guidance to new arrivals from the Mainland in acquiring services of various kinds to help adapt themselves to the local way of life as early as possible.

     New arrivals can obtain comprehensive information on Home Affairs Department's services, immigration, social welfare, public housing, employment, family planning, medical care, education, legal aid, emergency support, hotlines of various government departments and public utility companies as well as route map of railway transport, etc.

     It will be available for collection at Lo Wu Immigration Checkpoint, Home Affairs Department district offices and other government and NGOs service centres.
