MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for 17 employees

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 24) pursued seven claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $131,000 on behalf of 17 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, defendants Wai Chiu Ming trading as Fullness Plastic Mould Fty and All-line Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $49,152.2 and $18,482.57, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other five defendants, Winson Knitting Industrial Company Limited, Conmax Engineering Limited, UOF Limited, Pillar Education Foundation Limited and Venezia Environmental Services Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $35,524.06, $11,745.85, $10,368.15, $5,350.72 and $1,131.75, being mandatory contribution in arrears and surcharge payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $230, $280, $380, $180, $300, $190 and $310 as the costs in respect of the claims.
