The Legislative Council now invites members of the public to express their views on the Chief Executive Election and Legislative Council Election (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2006.
The Bill seeks to make miscellaneous amendments to the Chief Executive Election Ordinance and the Legislative Council Ordinance to ensure the smooth conduction of the 2007 Chief Executive election. A Bills committee, chaired by Hon Howard Young, has been formed to study the Bill. Those interested in giving their views are invited to send their written submissions to the Clerk to the Bills Committee on or before March 27, 2006 (Monday). They are also requested to indicate whether they intend to make oral representations to the Bills Committee at the meeting to be held on April 1, 2006 (Saturday) at 9am in the Chamber of the Legislative Council Building. Submissions received will be made available to the media and the public and uploaded onto the Website of the Legislative Council unless advised otherwise. When addressing the Bills Committee, representatives of attending organizations and individuals are not covered by the protection and immunity provided under the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance (Cap. 382). Written submissions are also not covered by the Ordinance.
