Appointments to Commission on Strategic Development

    The Government today (March 17) announced the appointment of Professor Lee Chack-fan and Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung to the Commission on Strategic Development to serve on the Committee on Governance and Political Development.

     It was also announced that Mr Andy Ho On-tat had resigned from the Commission on February 8, 2006.

     "The Commission is the most important advisory body to the Chief Executive on Hong Kong's long-term development needs and goals. The major task of the Committee on Governance and Political Development of the Commission is to provide advice to the Chief Executive on the direction and strategies for political development and enhancing the quality of governance. Professor Lee and Mr Lui, with their extensive public service experience and expertise in their respective fields, will be able to contribute to the work of the committee," a Government spokesman said.

     The appointments of Professor Lee and Mr Lui are from today (March 17) to June 30, 2007. A brief introduction of Professor Lee and Mr Lui follows:

Professor Lee Chack-fan, SBS, JP

     Professor Lee Chack-fan, 60, is Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Chair Professor of Department of Civil Engineering, University of Hong Kong. He is Chairman of the Harbour-front Enhancement Committee and Veterinary Surgeons Board, and Member of some other government advisory bodies.

Mr Lui Tim-leung, Tim, JP

     Mr Lui Tim-leung, Tim, 51, is a certified public accountant and is Senior Tax Partner of the PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is Chairman of the Employees' Compensation Insurance Levies Management Board and Member of some other government advisory bodies.
