Kowloon Hospital spokesman today (March 15) said that following the announcement yesterday on the gastroenteritis and fever symptoms of seven female patients and two staff members of a medical ward in the Rehabilitation Building, there is a new case (female, 86 year-old) reported today. All eight patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition. The two staff are now on sick leave. Appropriate test is being carried out.
There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being. All other patients in the ward concerned are under close surveillance. In addition, infection control measures have already been enhanced and visiting of the isolated cubicle is suspended temporary.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
