The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (March 9) confirmed an imported case of Legionnaires' Disease (LD).
Case details are as follows:
Age: 64
Sex : Male
District of residence: Mainland
Date of onset : February 17
Symptom : Shortness of breath, cough, generalised weakness and poor appetite.
Present condition: Admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on February 21. Now in a stable condition.
Home contacts: His family member has no symptom.
Others: Classified as an imported case as the patient stayed on the Mainland during the incubation period before returning to Hong Kong on February 21.

Local case: 1
Imported case: 1
Total number of LD cases in recent years: 2 in 2000, 3 in 2001, 4 in 2002, 3 in 2003, 3 in 2004 and 11 in 2005.
