Public reminded to take flood preventive measures during high tides
*********************************************************

Under the combined effect of high tide and strong monsoon, flooding occurred in some parts of Hong Kong yesterday (February 27). Hong Kong Observatory forecasts that a high tide will occur again tonight (February 28), which will also coincide with the persistent strong monsoon, resulting in a rise in sea level similar to the situation yesterday.

The Drainage Services Department (DSD) advises that residents living in low-lying areas near the sea will be subject to slight flooding due to seawater back flow as a result of this increase in sea level. Residents in these areas should take necessary precautions as soon as possible in order to minimise losses.
