Five employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment
*********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 28) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $100,000 on behalf of six employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, the two defendants, including Well Union & Union Limited and Well Union Maritime Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $30,809.37 and $17,902.5 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other three defendants, K-Tech International Limited, Fine Projects Limited and Full Wisdom Consultants Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $38,810.74, $15,385.16 and $979.86, being mandatory contribution in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $110, $110, $160, $80 and $210 as the costs in respect of the claims.
