Eighteen Hong Kong Fire Services members will tomorrow (February 22) vie for the title of the "Toughest Firefighter Alive" in the World Firefighters Games (WFG) at the Games Village at Tamar Site.
They will take part in the afternoon session starting at 12.30pm. A prize presentation will be held at 4pm. The competition has attracted 260 firefighters from more than 20 countries and regions to compete for the championship.
Eight firewomen from the United Kingdom, New Zealand and France and an ambulancewoman from the United States will also compete for being the "Toughest Firewoman Alive" tomorrow, starting at 9am.
Another highlight of tomorrow's WFG events will be a treasure hunt, which is open exclusively to overseas firefighters and their families. More than 110 participants will set off from the Games Village at 9am and take the Mass Transit Railway to six designated spots. On arrival at each of the spots, they will receive instructions to recover hidden traditional ornaments, to order and eat local dishes at designated shops and many other special tasks. The six stops are Ngau Tau Kok, Shau Kei Wan, Causeway Bay, Penny's Bay, Wong Tai Sin and Telford Plaza in Kowloon Bay. The competition is designed to test the participants' physical endurance, map reading and knowledge of Hong Kong culture.
