*********************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (February 20) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $70,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

The four defendants, including Shun Tat (China-HK) Transportation Limited, East Brilliant Asia Limited, Apex Group Limited and 1818 International Company Limited trading as Healthnest Health Care Centre, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $46,945.26, $16,010.03, $6,780.00 and $2,178.75 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $280, $280, $280 and $230 as the costs in respect of the claims.
