Reports on the following five 2004 annual economic surveys covering various sectors of the economy have been published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD):
(a) Annual Survey of Industrial Production;
(b) Annual Survey of Building, Construction and Real Estate Sectors;
(c) Annual Survey of Wholesale, Retail and Import and Export Trades, Restaurants and Hotels;
(d) Annual Survey of Transport and Related Services; and
(e) Annual Surveys of Storage, Communication, Banking, Financing, Insurance and Business Services.

These reports contain a wide range of statistics on the operating characteristics and structure of various economic sectors for the year 2004.
Major statistical data presented in the reports include:
* number of establishments;
* number of persons engaged;
* compensation (i.e. wages and salaries) of employees;
* gross output, sales of goods, business receipts and other income;
* value added (a measure of contribution to Gross Domestic Product);
* operating expenses; and
* gross additions to fixed assets.

Apart from statistics relating to the year 2004, the reports also contain summary statistics for the years 2002 and 2003 to facilitate reference and comparison.
The statistics in the reports are complementary to those relatively quick but simple statistics on the current economic situation as provided by the quarterly or monthly surveys. When analysed in combination, the statistics can provide data users with a more complete understanding of the economic situation and development of the economic sectors.
The above reports are now on sale. The prices are detailed in Table 1. Download versions of the reports can be purchased at 75% of their original prices exclusively at the online Statistical Bookstore.
