Vehicular e-channels at Sha Tau Kok Control Point
*************************************************

The Immigration Department announced today (February 6) that four vehicular e-channels had been activated at Sha Tau Kok control point.  They are located at kiosk numbers 1 & 2 for both southbound arrival and northbound departure. The channels are open to the public from 9am to 5pm daily.

Cross-boundary drivers who are Hong Kong permanent residents or Hong Kong residents holding Document of Identity for Visa Purposes (DI)* and have submitted the consent forms, authorising the Immigration Department to make use of registration of persons particulars for self-service clearance, can use their smart identity cards to perform clearance at vehicular e-channels.

* Other than their smart identity cards, DI holders are also required to bring along their DIs for inspection.

Vehicular e-channel operation does not need to be manned. If necessary, drivers can press the call button right above the smart card reader and talk to immigration officers via the intercom.
