Hongkong Post to participate in the Hong Kong Stampex 2006 Stamp Exhibition (with photos)

    Hongkong Post would be participating in the Hong Kong Stampex 2006 Stamp Exhibition, the Postmaster General, Mr Allan Chiang, announced today (January 23). The exhibition will be held from February 3 to 5, 2006, in the Exhibition Gallery, 7/F, High Block, Hong Kong City Hall, Central.

     The exhibition is organised by the Hong Kong Philatelic Society to encourage local collectors to produce stamp exhibits to international standards and to qualify first-time entrants for international stamp exhibitions. Admission is free and all are welcome. Opening hours of the exhibition are 10am to 6pm on February 3 and 4 and 10am to 5pm on February 5.

     "We are delighted to support this meaningful exhibition and to encourage the public and philatelists to participate in the exciting world of philately," Mr Chiang said. "Hongkong Post will display the running proof of the 'Charming Chinese Lanterns' special stamps at the exhibition venue and issue an official souvenir cover, together with a special postmark, to commemorate the event."

     The souvenir cover at HK$2 will be available for sale at the 39 philatelic offices from January 20 to February 3. A hand-back datestamping service using the special postmark will be available at all philatelic offices on February 3. The cover's image and specimen impression of special postmark are reproduced as attached.
