Fatal traffic accident in Tsuen Wan

Police are investigating a traffic accident in Tsuen Wan this (January 18) morning in which a 38-year-old man was killed while two other men, both aged 48, were injured.

Shortly after 10.40 am, a private car, a light goods vehicle, another private car, two container trucks and a medium goods vehicle were travelling along the second left lane of the North West Tsing Yi Interchange towards the New Territories.  

When they reached outside Tsing Ma Administration Building, the first private car broke down.  The following three vehicles stopped in time but the last two vehicles failed to stop and rammed the front vehicles and resulted in a chain collision.

As a result, the three men inside the last medium goods vehicle, including the 48-year-old driver and two passengers, aged 38 and 48, were injured.  They were all sent to the Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment where the 38-year-old passenger was later certified dead at 11.21 am.

Investigations by Special Investigation Team of New Territories South are proceeding.
